Barney was an outstanding man. In the 40 years that I knew him and worked with him, the thing that stood out the most about him was his faith and devotion to God and family. He was a person who was talented in many ways. He was a gifted guitar player and photographer. Barney photographed our wedding and did an excellent job. He will be missed by all who knew him and he will never be forgotten. May God Bless him, Martha, and all that knew and loved him.

Dearest Martha, You had a real son of God for your husband-what a blessing. Barney was always someone I looked up to, as a true brotherly friend in Christ. He always wanted to see the youth at Gospel Tabernacle growing in Christ and the love he had for them was truly remarkable. When I visited, he always made me welcome. One weekend, several young people went to Eatonton to the Uncle Remus museum. Barney left and came back with lollipops for everyone! He was was always thinking of others and our slightest wish would be his command! He was the photographer at our wedding, and his work was truly tops! Until we meet our brother Barney again, we are praying for all of you in the Watts family and Arnette family! We are praying for all lives that he touched. We will miss his kind, sweet and loving nature!
Much love, in Christ,
Nancy (Edlund) Thomas and family: Clark, Harmony, and Kristin

I have a lot of fond memories of Junior (that’s what us cousins always called him). He was always so kind and had an infectious laugh. A couple of years ago I was visiting Macon and he invited me over for a good old fashioned fish fry. I could tell his health was declining but he stood out there and fried up the biggest “mess” of crappy you’ve ever seen and they were the best fish I’ve ever eaten. I’m sure he didn’t feel like standing there and doing that but he wanted me to enjoy them and I surely did. I love you always. Rest In Peace my dear cousin Love Zelda

Martha and family,

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Barney. I will always remember him teaching me to drive a stick shift in his pistachio green Pinto up the hill near Academy Sports. LOL! There are so many other memories as well. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
