

MACON – Betty Devereaux Brown, 84, passed away Friday, March 19, 2010. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Forest Hills United Methodist Church. Burial will be private. The family will greet friends beginning at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday in the Ministry Center of the church. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the P. E. O. International, 3700 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, Iowa 50312. Members of the Chapman Sunday School Class, the Ruth Circle and the P. E. O. International are asked to sit together as a group at the memorial service.
Mrs. Brown was born in Dublin, Georgia and was educated at the College of Charleston, Emory University and the Roanoke Rapids Hospital School of Nursing. She was a retired registered nurse from Coliseum Medical Center, a member of Forest Hills United Methodist Church, a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Meals on Wheels, a Troop Leader of Troop #268 with the Girl Scouts, and a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood. Mrs. Brown was the widow of Allan Rudolph Brown and the daughter of the late Clarence D. and Bessye Parker Devereaux.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her daughter, Devereaux Brown of Atlanta; sister, June Devereaux Cammer of Bonneau, SC; nieces, Betty June Eason of Bonneau, SC and Patricia Crain of St. Stephens, SC; nephews, John J. Cammer of Richlands, NC and Devereaux Cammer of St. Stephens, SC.
