

EATONTON – Olin J. “Buster” Gilstrap, III, 86, passed away Wednesday, May 09, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Macon Memorial Park. Pastor Jimmy Corbitt will officiate. The family will meet friends from 1 p.m. to service time on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany Baptist Church, 365 Pea Ridge Road, Juliette 31046.
Mr. Gilstrap, son of the late Olin J. Gilstrap, Jr. and Elizabeth Cain Gilstrap, was born in Macon and proudly served his country during World War II as a specialized B-17/B-29 gunner with the U. S. Army Air Corps. He worked in radio communication with the City of Macon Police Department retiring after thirty years and attaining the rank of Lieutenant over communications followed by nineteen years with Bibb County Sheriff’s Department. Mr. Gilstrap was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, the Peace Officers Association of Georgia. Mr. Gilstrap was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and a member of Mabel Lodge No. 255 F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Angelyn Gilstrap of Eatonton; his sons, Philip Gilstrap of Macon. and Wayne Gilstrap of Albany; his stepdaughters, Kay Barker of Milledgeville and LeeAnn (Steve) Hartley of Macon; his granddaughter, Sarah Gilstrap of Hollywood, MD; his grandsons, Eric Gilstrap of Albany, Josh Gilstrap of Macon and Zack Gilstrap, USMC; his step granddaughters, Andrea Gable of Milledgeville and Allison Barker of Panama City, FL and his beloved Boston Terrier, “Sugar.”
