Charles R. Fritz, age 72, of Macon, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, January 10, 2019. He was born on July 14, 1946 to the late Charles Fritz and Frances Shelnutt Fritz in Macon, Georgia. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, January 17th at Snow’s Memorial Chapel Pio Nono Ave. at 11:00 am officiated by Rev. Anthony McPhail and Coroner Leon Jones. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 16th from 6:00-8:00 pm at Snow’s Memorial Chapel.
Charles was a graduate of Willingham High School. While in high school, he was awarded a trip to Switzerland and Germany as the 1963 Parade Magazine Young Columbus Tour winner.
He was a dedicated and loyal employee with the Macon Bibb Fire Department for 27 years and with Bibb County Sheriff's Office for 15 years. After retirement, he began driving cars for several local dealerships.
While working tirelessly over two decades to raise money for the March of Dimes Walk America fundraiser, he received numerous awards, including a Proclamation from the Bibb County Board of Commissioners in 1991.
Charles thoroughly enjoyed participating in many road races over the years. His favorites were Brasstown Bald Road Race and the Atlanta Peachtree Road Race.
His greatest joy came from spending time with his family at either the beach or the mountains. Charles also enjoyed entertaining his family and friends with many antics and hijinks. He and his son spent countless hours attending car shows. He loved everything Corvette, including his own, Casper and the Red Baron. Charles was a loving and caring husband, father, son, brother, and uncle, and friend.
Charles is survived by his loving wife, Pam Fritz; son, Chad Fritz; brother-in-law, Gary McPhail; sister-in-law, Brenda McPhail; nephew, Anthony (Emma) McPhail; close friend, Audrey Cox; and brother, David (Pam) Fritz.
He is predeceased by his beloved fur babies, Tedi and Kumho.
