Charles Joseph O’Brien, Sr., 106, passed away Thursday, January 23, 2013. A Rosary will be said Saturday at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with a visitation following at 10:30 and the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 AM. Father Michael Kavanaugh will officiate. The family requests donations be made to Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 4074 Chambers Road, Macon 31206.
Mr. O’Brien was born in Barnesville, OH and was a retired train dispatcher for the Nickel Plate Railroad. He was the widower of Irene Catherine Wirkner O’Brien and the son of late John and Blanche Triplet O’Brien. Mr. O’Brien was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. O’Brien is survived by his daughter, Pat Blaha of Forsyth; son, Charles J. O’Brien, Jr. (Susan) of Medina, OH; grandchildren, Jane Gray (Tracy), Megan Medinis (Jim), Kelly Butler (Joe), Erin Vigne (Jeff), Molly Cope (Jason); 16 great-grandchildren; sister, Anne Bossman of Columbus, OH; brother, John D. O’Brien of Barnesville, OH; several nieces and nephews.
