

Charles Clyde Sanders, Sr., 88, passed away on Thursday, September 1, 2016. A celebration of his life will be held at Lizella Baptist Church on Saturday, September 3, at 2 p.m. with burial in the church cemetery. Dr. Shannon Back and Rev. Russell Whitehurst will officiate. The family will greet friends at the church one hour prior to the service.
Endeared by friends and loved ones as such, “Mr. Charlie” was born in Lizella to the late William Jefferson and Blanche Lambert Sanders. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Lambert Sanders, and his daughter, Cherie A. Rowell. Charlie served in the U. S. Army and retired after 45 years as Plant Engineer with Bibb Manufacturing. He was a lifelong member of Lizella Baptist Church. Charlie was a loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved baseball, the Georgia Bulldogs, and had a heart for gardening.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty S. Sanders; his children, Dianne (Ken) Newberry, Charles “Chuck” (Kay) Sanders, Jr., Nancy (Roger) Childree, Janet Fuller, R. Charles “Chuck” (Barbra) Arnold, Debora (Bill) Chambless; twelve grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; siblings, Frankie (Ray) Munson and Lawrence “Doc” (Dessie) Sanders; and numerous nieces and nephews.
