Claude Ellis Bennett, 89, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, May 21 at 2 p.m. at Vineville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jimmy Asbell. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Vineville United Methodist Church, 2045 Vineville Avenue, 31204.
Claude was born in Macon to the late Worthy and Eula Dumas Bennett. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Donald Bennett, W. R. Bennett and Marion Bennett. He served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. Claude was an active member of Vineville United Methodist Church and the Mack Anthony Sunday School Class. After 37 years of employment, he retired from AT&T (formerly Southern Bell). Claude was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and Jonesco Golf Club. He was a former member of the American Legion. Claude was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Angie Roberts Bennett; children, Brenda (Michael) Vaughn and Scott (Kim) Bennett; four grandchildren, Blair (Ty) Blackburn, Megan (Nick) Bader, Alex Elrod and Jarrod (Alexandra) Elrod; and four great-grandchildren, Bridget, Torin, Michael and Ava.
