Dana, Terry, and Tim, I can appreciate your loss.  You lived with your Dad in mind or body every day of your lives and the space to fill is immense.  Uncle Dan held a very special place in my life as well.  He was the favorite Uncle through my childhood.  He was fun and educational and we always looked forward to his visits.  He offered guidance through my young adulthood and as an adult we enjoyed many an hour riding our motorcycles together around the eastern US.  But it wasn't enough, I would have liked to have had one more ride, maybe when I get to where he is now.  I love you guys, let's stay in touch.

I just found out about Dan's passing. Don and I thought so much of Anne and Dan. Our years living across the street from each other are such wonderful memories. We got together every week to play cards or just have coffee and talk. They talked me into my first...and only...motorcycle ride. Don could never get me to ride with him, but Dan convinced me. I thought we were just going around the neighborhood and we ended up in Byron. I will always have a place in my heart for them and all of you.

Dana, Terry and Timmy: my heart hurts for your loss. CPT D was like a second father to me and I have such great memories of hanging out at the house in LWW and working at the courthouse. Your dad was a good man who possessed a great strength of character and played an important role in keeping me on the right path. I am blessed to have your family in my life and will be forever grateful for the guidance and advice that your dad gave me.

To the family, I was very sorry to hear of Dan's passing. I will always remember him as a man of integrity. It was an honor to know and work with him through his distinguished service at the Bibb Sheriff's Office. He will be missed by many. May you find peace knowing he was loved and respected.

I remember CPT Dan Barrett as a LT when I he instructed me in the Junior Deputy program in the late Seventies.  He was a professional cop and added a nice touch to the Sheriff's office.  He did many ads for crime prevention for WMAZ.  Captain Barrett will be missed.

I am truly sorry for your loss. There is no grieving message that can express how much he meant to us. My heart is aching for you and your families. God will definitely show you the way to smiling again. I know this experience will change you forever, as mine was when my father passed in 2006. Dad always loved talking with your father when he would come visit us, he would make sure to visit your Dad as well. They hit it off. 

Just remember all the good times you shared with your father and all the love he gave you throughout the years. He is not gone. He will live in your heart forever.  Love you all.

Dana, Terry, and Timmy, I was saddened to read of Dan's death.  My years as his secretary were some of my best years with the Sheriff's Office.  He was not only our boss, he was our friend.  No matter what was going on in the Bailiffs' office, he was there for us.  Dan's love for Anne and his children was always first in his life.  On behalf of all the bailiffs who worked under his leadership, rest in peace, Dan.
