Deborah Rose Johnston, 79, passed on July 6, 2026 surrounded by her family. A Celebration of Her Life will be held at Snow's Memorial Chapel, 1419 Bass Road, Macon, Georgia 31210, on July 10, 2026, at 11:00 am. A Reception/Visitation will follow the service. Dr. Mark Hudgins will officiate. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105, US, or to Rescue Mission of Middle Georgia, 6601 Zebulon Road, Macon, GA 31220.
Debbie was born in Detroit, Michigan the daughter of the late Trellah Boyll Smith and Charles Edward Smith and was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lipko and her step-daughter, Elizabeth Brock. She was retired from retail sales and her true passion was sewing. Debbie was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church and the Cottage Ministry Sewing Club.
Debbie is survived by her husband, James H. Johnston, Jr.; children, Daniel Cottrell (Paola), Deanna Huggett (Jeff), and Dawn Burns (Robbie); step-son, Kenneth H. Johnston; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brothers, John Smith (Rita), David Smith (Pat), and Kenny Smith; several nieces and nephews.
Snow's Memorial Chapel, Bass Road, has charge of arrangements.
