Don was born in Bangalore, India, to the late Charles Douglas and Irene Gertrude Ross Bush. He graduated from Bishop Cotton Boys' School in Bangalore and was selected as Head of School, was Captain of the cricket team and named outstanding athlete. For the next twenty-one years he worked for Imperial Tobacco Company (later India Tobacco) at various locations throughout India.
Don moved to the United States in 1972 and joined Brown & Williamson in Louisville, KY. He was transferred to Macon in 1979, retiring in 1992. He was a member of St. Francis Episcopal Church and a member of the former River North, now Healy Point Country Club.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 54 years, Sandra "Sandy" Bush; sons, Donald Blake Bush of New York, NY, Douglas Ross Bush of Arlington, VA, and George Donald Phillips of Kent, England; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are sisters, Connie Smith, Mayance Sherwood, Pat Robinson, Joy Mani and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his brother Charles Bush.
In retirement Don greatly enjoyed golfing and travels to the Grand Canyon, England, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Paris and especially Normandy. He was loved by so many for his kindness, sense of humor and caring nature. He always seemed to be there, saying and doing the right thing, no matter the circumstances. He was very proud of his boys and all his family and will be greatly missed….
