Doris B. Carter

Doris B. Carter, 84, passed away on Thursday, June 6, 2013. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Vineville Baptist Church with Dr. Tripp Martin officiating. Burial will be private in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Vineville Baptist Church, 2591 Vineville Ave., Macon, Georgia 31204 or to the charity of your choice.

Mrs. Carter was born in Soperton, Georgia to the late Charles and Omie Braswell. She was preceded by her parents, husband, Comer C. Carter, brothers, Elton, Bill, Hoyt and Delma Braswell. She retired from Robins Air Force Base in 1983 after thirty five years of service. Mrs. Carter was a member of Vineville Baptist Church for more than fifty five years and was a member of the Joy Sunday School Class and the XYZ Club. She was also a member of the Macon Woman’s Club, Alpha Nu Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha, and H2U.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn (Kim) Wheeler of Marietta, grandson, Scott (Christian) Wheeler of Canton, great-grandson, Hunter Wheeler of Canton, sisters, Doretha Hall of Adrian, Myrt Page of Vidalia, Nell Jones and Joann Avant of Macon, two sisters-in-law, Mary Braswell and Evelyn Braswell of Macon, and several nieces and nephews.
