MACON - Edna Bledsoe Johnston, 78, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at Pine Pointe Hospice. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial at 2:30 p.m., in Georgia Veteran’s Cemetery, Milledgeville. Pastor W. C. Bloodworth and Chaplain Claire Davis will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home. They suggest that those who wish make memorial contributions to H2U Volunteer Services, Coliseum Medical Center, 350 Hospital Drive, Macon 31217 or to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.
Mrs. Johnston, daughter of the late Fletcher and Mamie McCall Bledsoe, was born in Greenville, SC and had lived in Macon most of her life. She was a graduate of A. L. Miller High School and had worked in the lunchrooms at Gordon-Ivey Academy and Tattnall Square Academy. She was a devoted homemaker and a volunteer with H2U Group Coliseum Medical Center. Mrs. Johnston was a member of Baptist Gospel Mission in Twiggs County. She was preceded in death by her brother, Max Bledsoe.
She is survived by her loving family, her husband Thomas A. Johnston of Macon; her daughter, Brenda (Louie) Cheek of Macon; her grandson, Thomas “Tommy” (Kristen) Cheek of Lizella; her sister, Mildred Griffin of Gordon; her brothers, Jack (Jackie) Bledsoe and Bill Bledsoe all of Macon; her sister-in-law, Berta Bledsoe of Macon and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
