Edwina Gunn

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, December 29, at 11:00 a.m. at Snows Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street, in Macon. Brother Mobley Cross, a family friend, will preside, with burial following at Riverside Cemetery in Macon. The family will receive friends at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street on Saturday from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Edwina was born April 28, 1947 and spent her childhood on Gunn Farms in Houston County. She played and lived life as a child, learning the business. At age 28, she returned home as Chief Operating Officer of Gunn Farms, a major peach farm and packing house. She succeeded her father, Dan Gunn, Jr., as proprietor of Gunn Farms. Edwina was a member of the Georgia Peach Council, an organization of peach farmers.

She attended Miller High School for Girls in Macon, and Massey Business School in Atlanta until 1967 where she met and married Dana's father. Many know and remember her as owner of Edwina Gunn's Boutique in Warner Robins. She grew Gunn Farms into other entrepreneurial ventures and real estate investments. She successfully developed part of the farm property into what is now known as Gunn Battle Shopping Center as well as the naming of Gunn Road. She was an initial investor and active member of the Board of Directors for the development of Beachside Colony on Tybee Island with good friends, Tommy and Frances Clark.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dan Gunn, Jr. and Hilda Giddens Gunn. Edwina is survived by her only daughter, Dana Gunn Brooks and husband Joel Robert Brooks, and two grandchildren, Keaton David Deal and Kenadee Edwina Deal, of Bonaire, and her brother, Dan Gunn III.
