OBITUARY
Elton E. Adams
March 1, 1935 – June 13, 2014
When Elton Adams was not traveling or fishing, he could always be found working – or “piddling,” as he called it – around the house, garage or workshop. Wherever he was, and whatever he was doing, his wife Sue Armstrong Adams was never far from his side. When Sue died in 2011, Elton continued to fish, and to piddle, to keep himself occupied. Early Friday morning, he rejoined his wife. They are together again, side-by-side in heaven. Elton was born in Americus on March 1, 1935. He served in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1956. On Dec. 8, 1956, he and Sue married. They were married for 55 years. Elton worked at Warner Robbins Air Force Base, until retirement in 1988. Throughout his work at the base, he also worked as a bookkeeper and tax professional for nearly 60 years, serving generations of families. After retirement, Elton enjoyed running his RV to a house in Carabelle, Fla., where he would troll around Dog Island fishing the waters of the "flats." Whoever was lucky enough to join him on those fishing trips learned right away that Elton’s fishing nickname was “Captain.” The RV often made its way westward as well, to Biloxi for a game of cards. His favorite traveling partner was always Sue. Mr. Adams was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sue, sister, Ruth Kirk, brother, Charles Adams, and his mother and father, Ina Van and Roscoe Adams. He is survived by beloved daughter Cheryl Ann Adams of Byron; dear friend, cousin, and companion Donna Hyatt; stepson Michael Ross (Terri) of Snellville; siblings Albert Adams of Preston (Mavis) and Evelyn Perry of Americus (Lynn); granddaughters Chloe Huval of Byron, Jennifer Ross of Macon, and Rachel Krause (Thomas) of Atlanta; great-granddaughters, cousins, nieces, nephews, and family friends.
Visitation will be at Snows Memorial, on Pio Nono Ave., Sunday, from 5 - 7 p.m., with a service at the Glen Haven Mausoleum Chapel, in Macon, Monday, 11 am., interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Mr. Adams' honor to Pine Point Hospice, with special thanks to nurses, Katasha Stokes and Shirley Lawson, who gave support and solace to Mr. Adams and his family in his last days.

To The Elton Adams Family, Thinking of you at this difficult time. We were very sorry to hear you had lost someone so precious to your hearts on June 13th. I worked with Elton for a number of years at Robin AFB and he always called me "Pat". we just got home from Chattanooga and were catching up on the newspapers when I read about my friend's death.
