Evelyn was born in Macon and lived here much of her life. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Crumbliss, and her second husband, Jeff D. Long. Evelyn was very proud of her role as wife, homemaker, and mother to three children who, in her words, “really turned out well.” “Joy” was her favorite word and red was her favorite color, so we invite you to wear red and share in the joy of our mother’s life. Evelyn was a charter member of Shurlington Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for decades and was active in all other phases of church life. She retired from the Bibb County Board of Education.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Mary Evie Crumbliss of Macon; Reed (Jan) Crumbliss of Lake City, GA, and Tim (Carrie) Crumbliss, of Simpsonville, SC. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jonathan (Nicole) Crumbliss of Smyrna, GA; Jessica (Greg) Smith, of Ellaville, GA; Ben (Natasha) Crumbliss, of Lancaster, OH; Josh (Devin) Crumbliss of Cincinnati, OH; Samantha Crumbliss and Harrison Crumbliss of Simpsonville, SC; 8 great-grandchildren; five stepchildren; and daughter-of-the-Heart, Zula Hartzog. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Murkerson, of Eastman, GA.
Evelyn expressly wanted it known that Baptist Village card-playing buddies and friends Willene McLeroy, Clara McCook, Estoria Hill, and Edna Sizemore made her last few years a joy.
