Frieda Jean Tinner

Frieda J. Tinner passed away peacefully on February 19, 2025 at the age of 97. Frieda was affectionately known as “Nanny”. She was born in Grahmsville, NY to Gilbert and Alice (Teller) Van Valkenberg. Frieda was raised by her maternal grandmother after her mother died when she was only 6 months old. Frieda lived in 5 states before moving to Macon in 1975.

She loved her home on Crescent Avenue and lived there for over 40 years. She especially loved sitting on her screened-in front porch, visiting with family and friends. Frieda (Nanny) will be remembered for the joy, laughter, ambiance, and unconditional love she brought to all that were blessed to know her.

Frieda is survived by her daughter, Diana (Tim) Gilbert of Forsyth; 3 granddaughters, Laura (David) Bass of Macon, Angie (Drew) Kunkel of IN; Audrey (Sam) Taber of IN; 3 great-grandchildren, Sam Bass of Atlanta, Maddie Bass of Atlanta and Kali Holder of IN; and daughter-in-law, Glenda Glasstord of IN.

Frieda was preceded in death by her 3 brothers, her beloved son of Ed Glasstord and her cherished, beloved grandson, Mark Bieker.

A private service was held on March 1, 2025.
