MACON – Gary “Garo” Lee Purvis, Sr., 50, died Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Marty Watson and the Rev. Randall Mimbs will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 –p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
Mr. Purvis was a lifelong resident of Macon and was co-owner of Peach Wood Products. He was of the Baptist Faith and was preceded in death by a son, William Samuel Ivey.
Survivors include his wife, Linda W. Purvis of Macon; his children, Gary Lee Purvis, Jr. and Heartly Amanda Purvis, both of Macon; his parents, Fred and Mildred J. Purvis of Macon; his sister, Debbie (Bob) Hartley of Macon; his brother, Ronald Purvis of Macon; a grandson, Caden Britt Ivey of Eastman; his nieces, Brooke Herndon, Brittany Hartley and Shelby Purvis all of Macon; and a great niece.
