He and Jessie were charter members at Ingleside Baptist and later joined First Baptist, where together they taught Sunday School and were head of the grounds committee. The courtyard garden at First Baptist is named in honor of George and Jessie Patton. He was famous for baking cookies for new and prospective church members and always took them to church work days. He loved to garden and fish.
