

Grace Maxwell Sparrow, 85, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2018. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 20th at 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Ingleside Baptist Church with Dr. Mark Hudgins officiating. The family will greet friends on Friday, January 19th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Burial will be private at Riverside Cemetery. Grace was the daughter of the late James Finklea and Grace Nettles Maxwell. She was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church where she served as a member of the Mary Martha Sunday School class. Grace spent her first year in college in North Carolina at Mars Hill College and then transferred to Wesleyan College in Macon, where she graduated in 1953 with a BA in Speech. She was a member of the Mary Hammond Washington, NSDAR and Colonial Dames of the 17th Century, John Alden Chapter. Grace married her husband, Julian Nash Sparrow, Sr. on October 24, 1953 at the First Baptist Church in Roanoke, Alabama. They had been married 50 years when he died in 2003.
Grace is survived by her sons, Julian (Chip) Sparrow, Jr., (Paula) of Macon, Phillip Sparrow of Wasilla, Alaska, and Paul Sparrow (Heather) of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., and her daughter, Leslie Sparrow of Macon. She is survived by her grandchildren, Andrew "Abbey" H. Sparrow (Tonya), Fauna Stevens (Wayne), Madison Sparrow and Dalton Sparrow and six great-grandchildren.
