Last year, we sang sad songs, told bittersweet stories, and even laughed a little at our memories. Today, it's the laughter that I remember best of all.

It was only in Helen Ann's later years that I was introduced to her by my sister Sally, an old friend and classmate of hers. Sally brought Helen Ann to some of our family get-togethers. During these gatherings, and through letters that I exchanged with Helen Ann, I learned that we shared a passion for music. She loved the musical "Jesus Christ Superstar, the rock opera "Tommy," and recordings by Bob Dylan, Joan Baez, the Rolling Stones, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Guns 'N Roses, and Bon Jovi. In one letter, she wrote that the album "Tommy" took her "right back to riding around," listening to music with the boyfriend she had at the time the record was released.

Helen Ann also loved animals, as do I. It appears that that she was especially fond of cats, while I am a "dog person." In her letters, she always asked me about our dogs, and she once said she enjoyed the stories of their "escapades" with the squirrels and chipmunks in our yard. In turn, she wrote to me about a cat she previously owned named Dallas, and his interactions with other kittens.

I still have Helen Ann's letters, and I will keep them as mementos of this very interesting woman who seemed to enjoy writing to me as much as I enjoyed writing to her. I will miss hearing from her.

My sympathy goes out to all the family and loved ones of Helen Ann.

Helen Ann meant so much to my family. She and my mother became the closest of friends when they were just little girls. She was ever-present during my childhood, always smiling and laughing with my mom. My sister and I adored her. My grandparents cared so deeply for her. Helen Ann and my family experienced many of life's ups and downs together through the years. She celebrated all of our major milestones. She was at my wedding, and she traveled to the hospital with my family for the birth of my first child. Over the years, she spent many Thanksgivings and Christmas Eves at my mother and stepfather's home. She and Mom loved talking for hours. I'm so glad they had each other. Helen Ann had the kindest heart, the sweetest smile, and powered through many personal struggles with grace. I will always remember the sound of her voice and laughter. She will be deeply missed. On behalf of my family, we will treasure our sweet memories of Helen Ann. We are so sad we will not be able to attend the funeral, but please know that we will be thinking of all who were touched by Helen Ann and loved her. She was a beautiful person, and we take great comfort in knowing she is reunited in Heaven with her baby daughter.

I would like to extend my sincere sympathy to the family members of Helen Ann Truesdale Hunt. Helen Ann was my friend since the summer of 8th grade. We met at a birthday party of David Redding’s, a mutual friend. We realized at that time we lived only a block from each other. We realized also that we would both be attending Mt. de Sales together in the fall. From that time we became very good friends, and shared many fun adventures together and also, she was such a faithful friend to me during my broken bone experiences, allowing my husband to return to work while she monitored my needs, and kept me company for a month each time ( what fun we had together).
Referring to our younger days, I would like to mention some of our fun adventures which included trips to Atlanta with Helen Ann and her wonderful and devoted parents, where we would go to Rich’s to buy various seasonal clothes for for Helen Ann, shopping trips to Burden Smith and lunch at Woolworths at the original bar stool luncheonette, trips to the Pig and Whistle in the afternoons and evening, walking through the woods to each others houses ( where Helen Ann would get poison ivy😩 and I wouldn’t ), trips together to the sorority house party in the summer at Daytona Beach , Florida, a trip to Fernandina Beach, Florida with Margaret Wallace Snow and Helen Ann’s parents and my parents ( such fun together), and a trip to Atlanta with me to remove my belongs from my dormitory from the Atlanta School of Art( I was getting married and Helen Ann was a brides maid). The list goes on, and on!
(Oh, Helen Ann introduced me to my husband, David Ballard, when I was 14 and he was 15) There are many more stories and adventures that Helen Ann and I shared over the many years of our friendship . She will be forever in my heart and I am grateful for our strong friendship.
I would like to add 1 scripture: 1 Corinthians 2:9 But it is written, Eye has not seen nor ear heard, what God has for those who are His.

Helen Ann was a dear friend since my MDS '65 12th grade. We had tons of fun together. She was a Bob Dylan and Joan Baez fan back then and wrote a folk song, which impressed me so much that I remembered it and have probably sang it about a hundred times since. And just now. And she wrote beautiful letters to me in recent years. I was a Helen Ann fan.

Helen Ann had an arduous journey. (Thank you, God, for blessing it with the deep love and presence of her MDS friends, and especially Sally's lovely heart.) She had a certain way of being that was dear to all she knew, and all will mind and reverence every memory and grace of her story.

May her life continue to unfold further in spirit and our personal treasured memories keep blowin' in the wind.

I send my deepest sympathies to her family.

Helen Ann was a friend to everyone she crossed paths with. We met over 50 years ago where we both lived in Macon. I'll always remember her sweet smile & how intelligent she was. Whenever I must bid farewell to someone I've treasured, I take comfort in this: Because of the promise of eternal life, I know I'll see Helen Ann again when my time on earth is finished.

There is not a doubt in my mind that Helen Ann heard Jesus say, "Well done, my faithful servant." She ran rose from her bed & ran into His arms. My deepest & most heartfelt sympathy to Helen Ann's relatives.
