

MACON – Howard M. Edwards, 71, passed away Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at his residence surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Sam Waldron will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday at the funeral home and while flowers are accepted, those who wish may make memorial contributions to Porterfield Baptist Church, 2910 Allen Road, Macon, GA 31216.
Mr. Edwards, son of the late Chambers Vernon Edwards and Mattie Mae Hathaway Edwards, was born in Wilson, NC. He served with the U. S. Army and was a retired Maintenance Supervisor with Brown and Williamson. Mr. Edwards was a member of Porterfield Baptist Church. He loved his family, his home and gardening. He was preceded in death by his sister, Nell McLaughlin and sister-in-law, Linda Childress.
Survivors include those he loved most, his wife of forty-eight years, Barbara K. Edwards of Macon; his daughters, Sharon (Derrick) Andrews and Michelle (Mike) Gordon, of Macon; his beloved grandchildren, Kayla Andrews, Kelsey Andrews, Fletcher Gordon and Zachary Gordon, all of Macon; his sisters, Ethel (A. W.) Hayes, Frances (Phil) Everson and Irene Jarrett, all of Virginia; his brother, Scott (Clarice) Edwards of Macon; numerous nieces and nephews; brothers-in-law, Robert (Lois) Kafka and Jimmy Childress, of Virginia; sisters-in-law, Janet (Robert) Riggans and Gail Kafka of Virginia.
