

Hugh Robert Barnes Jr. passed on Tuesday, June 9, 2026. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Bass Road with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Rev. Lisa Johnson will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172, or the charity of the donor's choice.
Hugh was born in Macon, the son of the late Elizabeth Black Barnes and Hugh Robert Barnes, Sr. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 15 years as a letter carrier, was a former security officer for the Macon Mall and private security, and was a driver and worked in the parts and service departments of Riverside Ford-Lincoln. Hugh was a United States Army veteran having served in Vietnam. Hugh was a life member of the National & Georgia Wildlife Federation and a life member of the National Rifle Association.
Hugh is survived by his son, Jason F. Barnes (Cindy); daughter, Heather N. Woods; 6 grandchildren; beloved companion and close friend, Marian Reagin; Brittany, Tonya, Corey, R.C. and his current and former work associates and close friends; his Vietnam brothers and sisters.
Snow's Memorial Chapel, Bass Road, has charge of arrangements.
