Mr. Ira H. Thomas

MACON – Ira H. Thomas, 84, died Saturday, August 14, 2010 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 18 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono. Entombment will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The family will meet friends on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association, 5962 Zebulon Rd, PMB # 359, Macon, GA 31210.

Mr. Thomas, son of the late Ira Hoshall Thomas and Mary Clementine Vinson Thomas, was born in Wayne, Oklahoma. He was married to Evelyn R. Davis. He graduated from Muleshoe High School and received an associate’s degree from the University of Georgia. Mr. Thomas was also a veteran. He retired from teaching in 1994 from Macon Technical College, and was an electrical lineman for twenty years before that. He was a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn D. Thomas of Macon; one daughter, Julie A. Samuel of Macon; one brother, Albert H. Thomas of Diana, Texas and several nieces and nephews.
