Irene Jones Garrett, 80, passed away Monday, March 30, 2015 at a local hospital following a brief illness. Graveside services and a celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Randy Darnell officiating. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Wednesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono.
Mrs. Garrett, daughter of the late James Matthew and Reba Kinchen Jones, was born in Milan. Living in Macon most of her life, she was a graduate of Miller High School and was a member of Bellevue Baptist Church. She loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose most precious time was spent with her family.
She will be missed by those she loved most, her husband of sixty-three years, Charles E. Garrett; her sons, Mike (Marilyn) Garrett, Don (Cindy) Garrett and Keith (Anita) Garrett; seven beloved grandchildren, Michelle (Gary) Lee Kim, Mardi (Kirk) Oliver, Marie Becham, Kyle (Stephanie) Garrett, Haley Garrett, Kevin Garrett and Amy (Justin) Freeman; three much loved great grandchildren, Hunter Becham, Bella Garrett and Caden Freeman; her brother, Ray (Myrtle) Jones and several nieces and nephews.
