

MACON – Irene Scales Robinson, 65, passed away Friday, December 31, 2010. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday in the chapel of Ingleside Baptist Church. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery. Dr. Mark Hudgins will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P O Box 4406, Macon 31208 or Ingleside Baptist Church, 834 Wimbish Road, Macon 31210. The family extends a special thanks to United Hospice.
Mrs. Robinson was born in Newport, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Jeane Mulder Scales and Philip Scales. She was a member of Kappa Delta sorority, graduating from Auburn University in 1966 and then received her Masters of Education from Mercer University. Mrs. Robinson taught for 31 years in the Georgia public school system, including Rosa Taylor Elementary and Springdale Elementary and was the former First Lady of Macon. She was an active member of Ingleside Baptist Church. Mrs. Robinson was a volunteer for the Ronald McDonald House, the Macon Little Theatre, Friends of the Library, and the Sidney Lanier Cottage. She was a life member of the Macon Historic Society and PAGE – Professional Association of Georgia Educators and also a member of the Macon Junior Women’s Club.
She is survived by her husband, Lee Robinson of Macon; daughters, Christine Robinson (Jeff) Simmons of Flowery Branch and Jacquelyn Robinson (Kevin) Castellow of Marietta; grandchildren, Avery Beth, Will, Katie and Gunnar; sisters, Phylis (Paul) Garrison and Doris (Phil) Davis; several nieces and nephews.
