Iris Vanell Peacock Callaway, 87, of Macon, Georgia passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 21, 2021. Visitation will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021 from 2:00 until service time. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, 3077 Pio Nono Ave., Macon, Georgia at 3:00 pm. with Reverend Josh Queen and Reverend John Prettyman officiating. Entombment will immediately follow the service at Glen Haven Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Mrs. Callaway was born in Milan, Georgia to the late Allen and Alma Coleman Peacock. She was a charter member of Central Fellowship Baptist Church. She loved music and singing in the church choir. She and her sisters enjoyed singing at family gatherings. Mrs. Callaway was retired from Robins Air Force Base.
Those left to cherish her memories are her sons, Randy Callaway (Paula) and Tim Callaway (Karen); daughter-in-law, Tina Vastakis (George); eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild; sisters, Janette Johnson and Sue Coleman; and brother, Stephen Peacock (Judy).
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William (Bill) Callaway Jr.; son, Keith Callaway; sister, Laverne Payne; and brother, Robert Peacock.
