

Jackson “Jack” Carson Moore, Sr., 81, passed away Saturday, August 27, 2016. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. Burial will be private for family only in Riverside Cemetery. Rev. Steve Waldorf will officiate. The family will have a reception/visitation following the memorial service at the funeral home and asks that in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Save-A-Pet, PO Box 933, Forsyth 31029 or to the donor’s favorite charity.
Mr. Moore was born in Atlanta, Georgia the son of the late Mary Jordan Moore and Francis Carson Moore and was preceded in death by his brother, Harry Moore. He was a 1957 graduate of Mercer University, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. Mr. Moore was a letterman on the Mercer track team.
Mr. Moore was commissioned a Second Lieutenant out of the Mercer ROTC program. He served in active duty in Fort Lee, Virginia and spent some time in the Army Reserve as a Captain. Jack worked a short time with Philip Morris in Richmond, Virginia. He came back to Macon and spent 42 years at Georgia Kaolin Company. He retired in 2000 as Vice President of North American Sales.
After retirement he became acting as President of Moore’s Furniture in Macon. He enjoyed being with his children and grand-children and loved watching them participate in their sporting events. Jack served on the Board of Directors of Vine-Ingle Little League, was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church, Idle Hour Golf & Country Club, and past member of the Macon Elks Lodge.
Mr. Moore is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mildred Mathew Moore of Macon; daughter, Margaret “Mimi” Schilling (Drew) of Macon; son, Jack Moore, Jr. (Dawn) of Macon; grandchildren, Carson Schilling (Suzanne), Andi Margaret Schilling, Jackson Moore, III, and Parker Moore; nephew, Dr. Hank Moore (McKenzie); niece, Ginny Moore Reeves (Rob); brother-in-law, Edgar Mathews (Cile); his beloved dog, Camie.
