

MACON – Funeral services for James Holt “Jim” Sheehan, age 86, will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, May eleventh at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, 746 Cherry Street. The Rev. John Kinser and the Rev. Jimmy Dukes will officiate. Burial will be private in Riverside Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be at the Sheehan home, 134 Covington Place during the afternoon after the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor’s favorite charity.
Mr. Sheehan was born in Macon, GA. He was the son of John C. and Ruth Holt Sheehan. As a graduate of Lanier High School, he served as Cadet Colonel of the R.O.T.C. regiment. While attending Georgia Tech, he was called into military service. He served in the Pacific Theater with an underwater demolition group and later in the European Theater, he was in the combat infantry where he was wounded and decorated for his service.
After the war, he graduated from Mercer University where he was a member of SAE Fraternity. He then graduated from the Harvard Business School with a Masters Degree. Mr. Sheehan was employed by the Trust Company of Georgia in Atlanta, Georgia. Later he was with the C & S National Bank in Atlanta where he was in charge of the bank’s business originating in eleven southern and southwestern states. He was with the Macon office of C & S when he retired and moved to Florida. While living in Florida, he founded Sheehan & Associates, a real estate firm in Ft. Pierce and was the President of the “Go Team” and the Industrial Development Corporation in Ft. Pierce. Mr. Sheehan was an officer of Air Caribbean, and EVP of Golden South Airline which served Florida and the Caribbean Islands.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, John, his brother, John C. Sheehan, Jr. and his wife of almost fifty years, Natalie Blossom Sheehan.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Swallum Whittle Sheehan, his son, James H. Sheehan, Jr. of Ft. Pierce, FL, a grandson, Ben Sheehan and his family of Stuart, FL, his step-daughter, Susan Brooks Whittle Dantzler (Keitt) of Macon, stepsons, John Blaine Whittle of Macon and Jeffrey Bryan Whittle (Gwendolyn) of Albany, CA and four step-grandchildren, Lawrence Keitt Dantzler (Candace), William Wade Dantzler (Kristin), Harrison Brooks Whittle and Madeline Elizabeth Whittle and four step-great grandchildren.
