James Peter “Pete” Kiernan, Jr., 72, passed away Thursday, June 29, 2023. A Rosary will be held Sunday, July 2, 2023 at 5 PM at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road with the family receiving friends following the Rosary at 5:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 1 PM at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church. Father Steve Pavignano, OFM will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, North Gate. Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Me Over PD Foundation, 5300 Zebulon Road, Home 69, Macon 31210 or Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.
Pete was born in Tampa, Florida the son of the late James Peter Kiernan, Sr. and Alice Cook Kiernan and was preceded in death by his brother, John P. Kiernan. He graduated from the University of Georgia in 1974 and was a member of the Mercer Pipe and Drum. Pete was very active with Me over PD and the Boy Scouts of America with Troop 21. He was a member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church and in his later years worked for Chick-fil-A on Tom Hill SR. Blvd.
Pete is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jean Smith Kiernan of Macon; his children whom he was so very proud of, Thomas Cook Kiernan (Tiffani) of St. Louis, MO, Joseph Wilmer Smith Kiernan (Christina) of Los Alamitos, CA, and Bonne Kiernan Middleton (Edward); grandchildren, Carli Kiernan, Cavan Kiernan, Jason Middleton, Joseph Middleton; sisters, Agnes Bikus of Macon and Maralice Fyke of Macon.
