James Franklin “Jimmy” Kitchens, 78 of Macon, Georgia passed away Tuesday, October 27, 2026. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 31, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. in Swift Creek Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will have a time of visitation on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. till 11:00 a.m. in the church.
Born in Macon, Georgia he was the son of the late Jessie Lee Kitchens and Dorothy Louise Abney Kitchens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cathy Anne Pendergrass Kitchens, a brother, Thomas Lee Kitchens and a great grandson, Luke Kitchens.
He was a technician with Kitchens Garage in Macon for many years. He was raised and a Past Master of Marshall A. Weir #448 and a perpetual member of Macon #5.
He is survived by his children, Melinda Howell (Bill), Chris Kitchens (Danna), Eric Matlock and Aaron Matlock (Cassandra); Grandchildren, Dusty Kitchens (Katie), Brandon Groover, Dylan Groover, Chelsea Groover, Jessica Rynders (Adam), Meredith Staton (Judson), Paizley, Naomi Matlock, Garrison Matlock, David Matlock (Gabriella), Stephanie Matlock, and Joseph Matlock; Nine great grandchildren, sister, Melody Busbee (Terry); brother, Terry Kitchens (Lisa) and Several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations to the Masonic Children’s Home of Georgia, 1411 Nottingham Drive Macon, Georgia 31211.
