Daughter to the late Chester Shelby Gorman and Thelma Laverne Gorman, Janis was born on October 14, 1943, in Paragould, AR. She married Bruce Arnold Ball, and they had two children, Teresa and Kevin.
Those who knew Janis knew her world revolved around her family and friends. She would go to great lengths to lend a helping hand or support her loved ones in a time of need. She voluntarily went above and beyond the role of Memaw to take care of her grandchildren. She was very active in the growth of Agnes Barden Elementary School where her children attended. Janis’s favorite pastimes included playing cards, going out to eat with her friends, drinking Coke, and caring for her beloved cat, Tom. She radiated pride for each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved watching them play sports. She was an excellent athlete herself and participated in competitive softball and bowling. Janis also enjoyed donating countless hours of her time to support the Powersville Opry House in Hawkinsville, GA alongside her best friend, Yvonne of Byron, GA, and was a devoted member of Cornerstone Bible Fellowship.
Those who will miss Janis most are her children, Teresa (Tim) Davis and Kevin (Debbie) Ball; her sisters, Barbara Brantley (Joe) of Warner Robins, GA and Diann Wright (John) of Leesburg, GA; her brother, David Gorman (Pam) of Warner Robins, GA; her four grandchildren, Christopher (Enamarie) and Brandon Davis, Kady (Bo) Rowland, and Courtney Ball; her stepgrandson, Justin Bryant; her three greatgrandchildren; one stepgreatgrandchild and many nieces and nephews.
