Janis Riley Jones

Janis Riley Jones, 76, of Macon, Georgia passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 1, 2023 after a 10-year battle with dementia. She was truly a candle shining in the dark and will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.

Jan was preceded in death by her father, Lee Harold Riley and her mother Ellen Carolyn Carnes Riley both Macon Residents. She is survived by her daughter, Leigh Ellen Brady Aldhizer of Rutledge, Georgia, her grandson, Andrew Ward Aldhizer, his wife Paige, four great-grandchildren, Andrew Aden, Aylah Nicole, Riley Ronald, and Ace Ward and sister Gail Riley Everidge of Macon.

Jan was a lifelong member of Ingleside United Methodist Church in Macon and was retired after 30 years of service with Macon OB/GYN where she dedicated herself to being kind, helpful, and responsive to women in their care. She was also an avid runner for years, taking home numerous trophies in local races. She was a loyal friend to many and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother to her family. Affectionately known as the Cat Lady, Ms. Jan always had numerous cats as pets but also took care of stray cats in her neighborhood for years. Her kind, caring nature prevailed throughout her life.

A Celebration of Life will be held for Jan at a later date to be announced.
