

Jeanette Skipper Johnston Talley, 86, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Pine Pointe Hospice Facility. A celebration of her life will be held at 10 a.m., Friday at Liberty United Methodist Church with burial in the Church Cemetery. Dr. Laudis H. “Rick” Lanford and Dr. Wayne Anthony will officiate. The family will meet family and friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Thursday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono and suggests that memorial gifts be made to Liberty United Methodist Church, 6511 Houston Road, Macon 31216 or to Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.
Mrs. Talley was preceded in death by her first husband, Sanders Walden Johnston. A lifelong resident of Macon, she was a graduate of Miller High School where she was class president and Valedictorian. She was the daughter of the late John Franklin Skipper and Annie Ruth Howe Skipper. Mrs. Talley was active in the life of her church, Liberty United Methodist, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was active in the life of her community and her home town serving as a past president of the Porterfield Garden Club and as a founding member of Windsor Academy. She was steadfastly concerned with the betterment of education and had traveled to Washington as an advocate for education. Mrs. Talley was most content while gardening and growing flowers and being a full time wife and mother. She was preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. Known for her sweet disposition, up until her passing Jeanette remained a gracious, caring Southern Lady who has always shown love and affection towards others.
Survivors include the family she adored, her husband, Philip Talley, Jr.; her sons, Dr. Kim W. (Pam) Johnston, Carey S. (Denise) Johnston and Mark (Caren) Johnston; her beloved grandchildren, Kyle W. (Christy) Johnston, Blake (Austin) Johnston, Hunter C. Johnston, Nicole M. Johnston, Andrew M. Johnston, Brooke K. Johnston, Caroline Lane and Curt Lane; five great grandchildren; her sister, Sara Whitten and many nieces and nephews.
