John Alfred Dunwody, Sr., 86, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2021. Graveside services will be held at 11AM Tuesday in Riverside Cemetery, entering through the Madison Street gate. Rev. Jimmy Corbitt and Mr. E. Y. Stokes will officiate. Masks and social distancing are required to be in attendance of the service. The family will greet friends from 4 until 6PM Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the donor’s favorite charity.
Mr. Dunwody was born in Macon the son of the late Mary White Dunwody and Daniel D. Dunwody, Sr. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary S. Dunwody; a son, John Alfred “Beau” Dunwody and a grandson, John A. “Trey” Dunwody, III. Mr. Dunwody was a United States Army veteran, retired from RAFB and was a member of Bethany Baptist Church. He was a Shriner, a member of the Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. Mr. Dunwody was a faithful servant unto the Lord until the day he died.
Mr. Dunwody is survived by his children, Laura D. Roberts (Jim) of Apopka, FL and Paul K. Dunwody of Macon; grandchildren, Melissa Aaron, Matthew Roberts, and Jessi Roberts; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces & nephews.
