John Calhoun Wilson, 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2017, surrounded by his loved ones. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 61 years, Jane Humphreys Wilson; five children and thirteen grandchildren, John H. Wilson and Pam (Cal, Frank, Holt) of Guatemala, Central America; Katie and John Geiger (Anna) of Decatur, GA; Lisa Ann and Alastair Muir-Taylor (Tom, Georgia, Genie, Sophie) of Birmingham, AL; Tom Wilson (Walt, Mary Wren) of Beulah, ND; and Genie and Kevin Harris (Grace, Alastair, Asa) of Birmingham, AL; and two sisters, Lucy Kernode of Burlington, NC and Mary Marchant of Greenville, SC.
John was born in Kobe, Japan on November 10, 1934, son of the late John Holtzendorff Wilson and Eugenia Candler Wilson. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia where he was a member of Kappa Alpha and received a BBA in finance. He became a very successful insurance broker in Macon.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother who will be missed by all.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 13 in the chapel of First Presbyterian Church with Rev. John Kinser officiating. The family will greet friends at 10:30 AM in the Gathering Room at the church. Burial will be private at Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to First Presbyterian Missions, Salvation Army, Rescue Mission or donor’s choice.
