Joseph Alton McKinley, 90, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Pine Pointe Hospice. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m., Friday in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens with Dr. Aubrey Sheats officiating and with Military Honors. The family will meet friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m., on Friday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono.
Mr. McKinley was preceded in death last June by his wife of sixty-three years, Marie Hayes McKinley and was the son of the late J. William McKinley and Inez Hancock McKinley of Lamar County. A lifelong resident of Macon, he served with the U. S. Army during World War II and was awarded the EAMET Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star Medal. Mr. McKinley was in automotive body repair and was retired from Youman’s Chevrolet.
Survivors include the family he adored, his daughter, Debbie Grimsley of Macon; his grandchildren, Daniel Grimsley and Sarah Grimsley, both of Macon; his great grandson, Mason Grimsley of Macon; his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bobby and Betty Hayes of Duncanville, TX and Ann Hayes of Thomaston and a number of nieces and nephews.
