Judith “Judy” Murphy Lowery, 67, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at a local hospital. Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday at Ingleside Baptist Church with burial at 4 p.m. in Riverside Cemetery, Lumber City, Georgia. Dr. Timothy A. McCoy and Dr. Mark S. Hudgins will officiate. The family will meet friends from 5 – 7 p.m., Friday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street.
Mrs. Lowery, daughter of the late William Manning Murphy and Adia Brown Murphy was born in Atlanta. She was a graduate of Georgia Southern and earned her Master’s Degree in teaching from the University of Georgia. Mrs. Lowery loved teaching and taught in several schools, retiring from Tattnall Square Academy after twenty-five years of service. She was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church since 1979, a member of the Bowman-Crowley Sunday School Class and a member of the Macon Sewing Guild.
She is survived by her devoted family, her husband of 42 years, Charles J. Lowery of Macon; her daughters, Tammy L. Gainey of Macon and Candace L. (Bryan) Evans of Warner Robins. Judy loved her family especially her precious grandchildren, Anna Grace Gainey, Carter Manning Evans and Cameron Hart Evans.
