Aunt Faye was the dear sister of my mom, Wynelle (Nelle) Avera Sandefur.  My siblings Waverlyn, Judy, and Dalaine grew up living right next door to cousins Traci, Keith, and Scott.  I would not trade my childhood for anything.  And thank God our parents got our tales up as children to attend Mikado Baptist Church. Our family attendance there was large, along with numerous other Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins who touched our lives.  As children, we experienced many holidays and birthdays,  Bibb Skate Rink, pool parties,  yard games, forts, bullies, pets, cycling, kite making, basketball, softball, shuffleboard, dart board, ping pong, etc.  We had no fear walking the neighborhood and we had kin on every other block it seemed.  Weir Elementary also served as an after school playground. We camped out, had Unc. Clarence hayrides, sat on the roof to sneak a peak at the drive-in nearby, slept on the trampoline, played with any critter, etc.  We grew into teens as years went by. Reunions and family gatherings were a blowout with plenty of food and fellowship, and they were  in high attendance.  I could go on speaking of our childhood, and much more is unsaid here. Perhaps soon in person let's do.  Just know that hese are highly regarded treasures to me. So... Thank you Uncle Clarence, dear Aunt Faye, Traci, Keith and Scott for living next door. Aunt Faye truly blessed my life, and may God comfort and guide you all.

My Aunt Faye made the best pancakes and chocolate pies and scorched thin fried okra.  She would have cantaloupe that she would give me and also would sneak me a slice off the Stuckey's pecan log. She let me listen to her Herb Alpert & the Tiajuana Brass records and Perry Como singing "Catch a Falling Star and Put It in your Pocket" or Bobby Vinton's "Blue Velvet". She let me play on her piano whenever I decided I needed to as well as peruse through her Encyclopia World Books. She never said no to me spending the night. She allowed me to go to Jacksonville Fl. with Daddy Bob  accompanying Traci on vacation. She was there middle of the week at Bible Memory Camp and gave me a hug after I talked with my Mama whom I was missing so badly. She always had her ironing board set up do she could iron whatever she decided to wear which explains why she always looked so fashionable and classy.  Her home and yard was a haven for all the kids on Capitol Avenue with Marco Polo in the pool, shuffleboard, baseball, basketball, flexies, trampoline.  There were greatly anticipated trips to the city dump where we would find and bring home all sorts of "treasures". There were Halloween hayrides in the Lowe Electric truck that provided us enough candy for at least a week or two. There were chinaberry fights and always the chance to have the new kid in the neighborhood taste of a green persimmon. All these memories of my sweet Aunt Faye and her love for me and all others her life intersected with. I am grateful forever for her and those times shared. No doubt there is rejoicing in Heaven!  And all the Avera's are probably still trying to fit on Pew 7.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Faye’s passing, I know you will miss her greatly

She is survived by her children, Traci King, Keith A. Caldwell, Scott A. Caldwell; eight grandchildren, Steven (Jennifer) Garrett, Summer (Jason) Turner, Brett (Shannon) Garrett, Brandi Seymour, Kris, Chad, Chase, Avree Caldwell; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
