

Dr. Julian Wayne Anderson, 62, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2016. A graveside service will be held at 3:00 PM Saturday in Riverside Cemetery, entering through the North Gate. Tim Hemingway will officiate. The family will greet friends following the service and asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Alabama Folk School, c/o Camp McDowell, 105 DeLong Road, Nauvoo, Alabama 35578.
Dr. Anderson was born in Macon, Georgia, the son of Doris Poe Anderson and the late Julian Anderson. He was a gastroenterologist at the Birmingham V. A. Medical Center. Dr. Anderson was a self-taught expert in Southeastern Indian archeology and Central Asian textiles. He also loved playing guitar and recording local Birmingham musicians.
Dr. Anderson is survived by his wife, Susan Dorsey Anderson of Birmingham, AL; daughter and son-in-law, Willoughby Anderson and Michelangelo D’Agostino of Oak Park, IL; siblings, Diane (Russell) Lewis and Ronnie (Joan) Anderson; and his many beloved nieces and nephews.
