Kathryn Hodak Lininger, 97, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2021. A private memorial service will be held Sunday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road. Inurnment will be in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. Rev. Andrew M. Lewis will officiate. Kathryn (Kay) was the fourth of five children born to Michael and Dorothy Hodak. She was born in Niles, Ohio and was educated in McDonald, Ohio. She served in the Women’s Army – Air Corp. during WWII. Mrs. Lininger met her husband to be, George who was also serving in WWII. She was extremely patriotic and proud of her service to our country.
Mrs. Lininger married George on May 19, 1945 and they were married for almost 65 years. She was preceded in death by her George in 2010, a grandson, Brian Todd Ferro and a daughter-in-law, Priscilla Ferro.
Mrs. Lininger is survived by her children, Michele Ferro (Jacob) and Geoffrey Lininger (Alicia); grandchildren, Jay Ferro, Heather Neal, Amanda Bortko, and Rebecca Lininger; eleven great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Lininger was active for many years in the American Legion, the Munster Garden Club and the Salvation Army in Munster, Indiana where she resided for many years.
Mrs. Lininger loved fishing vacations, dancing and singing. She never met a stranger and was always ready with a helping hand. Mrs. Lininger was a wonderful hostess, loved to cook and to entertain. She was the proverbial “life of the party”. Mrs. Lininger was the foundation for her family and they were the center of her life.
Mrs. Lininger will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She will be remembered for her feisty personality and big heart.
