Kimberly Ann Barksdale Tyson, 63, passed away on March 31, 2023. A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 11:00 am at Martha Bowman United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends and loved ones from 10:00 am until service time. Rev. Mark Magoni and Rev. Fran Magoni will officiate. Following the service, the burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery using the main gate.
Kimberly was born in Sandersville, Georgia to Mary Eleanor Curry and Tuttle Wright Barksdale Sr. She graduated from Wesleyan College and received a master's degree from Georgia College and State University. Kimberly's love for children and reading led her to a career in education, where she spent 40 years as a teacher. She started her teaching career in Washington County and spent the next 39 years serving the kids of Bibb County. Her latest position was with her friends and family at Vineville Academy. She was not only a devoted teacher but a kind and caring soul. She viewed life with an enthusiastically positive outlook and always looked to help someone else. Kimberly actively participated in local community groups like P.A.G.E and Backpack Buddies. Kimberly was a member of Martha Bowman United Methodist Church. She served on the church council, was an avid prayer partner, and attended the Good News Sunday School class. Kimberly was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and grandmother.
She is survived by her wonderful husband, Kenneth David Tyson; son Matthew Collier Tyson (Alexandria); daughter Brittany Tyson Brewer (Sance); mother, Mary Eleanor Curry Barksdale; brother, Tuttle Wright Barksdale Jr. (Brownie); sister, Mary Kaye Veal (Sandy); grandson, Noah Shannon Tyson.
