Katrina Joy Smith Hightower, 54, passed away Friday, March 21, 2014 at her residence. A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m., Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono with burial in Macon Memorial Park Cemetery. Pastor Paul Dzaidul will officiate. The family will meet friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hightower, daughter of the late Walter Dorcy Smith, Col. US Army Ret. and Joy Alice Nobles Smith, was born at Fort Benning, GA. She was a graduate of Bartlett High School, Anchorage, Alaska and Crandall University. Mrs. Hightower was a member of the Leathernecks Motorcycle Club and Red Nation Native American Heritage Group. She was Senior mail clerk at GEICO for thirty years.
Survivors include her husband of twenty-two years, Sam “Buddy” Hightower; brother, Walter D. (Vanessa) Smith, Sr.; sister-in-law, Kathy (Jamie) Resch; nephews, Walter D. Smith, III, Wesley Smith, Joel J. Harbin, III; nieces, Ashleigh Smith, Holly Smith and Melanie Harbin Eisenalher.
