Mrs. Korona Waller McKinney, 76, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, April 22, 2022 surrounded by loved ones. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, April 25, 2022 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at Bloodworth Cemetery in Mauk, Georgia. Rev. Lee Griffin and E. Y. Stokes will officiate.
Mrs. McKinney was born in Taylor County, Georgia the daughter of the late Mary Ann Gregory Waller and Joseph Gerson Waller. She attended Norman Park College then married the love of her life in 1964, Lewis McKinney. She was an avid basketball player in her youth and she loved to watch her children and grandchildren play sports. Mrs. McKinney had a servant’s heart and her greatest joy in life was her family. She retired after 20 years from Bellsouth as a telephone operator and enjoyed volunteering with the Pioneers of Bellsouth. She loved the Georgia Bulldogs and baseball, especially her Atlanta Braves. Mrs. McKinney loved to bake cakes and was known for her famous fourteen layer chocolate cake. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Mrs. McKinney was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis McKinney.
Mrs. McKinney is survived by her sons, Daryl McKinney (Kim) and Greg McKinney (Krista); grandchildren, Brooks Hinton (Melissa), Carley Raffield (Joe), Lauren Meadows (Will), Thomas McKinney, Grant Miller, Peyton McKinney, and Griffin McKinney; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Sarah Kate, Lily, Weston, Emory, and Eli; also survived by two sisters, Dyrene and Roylyn.
