

Lamerle Loyd, 83, passed away Thursday, February 4, 2016 at his residence. A celebration of his life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Pio Nono Avenue with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Mark Grinstead will officiate. The family will meet friends from 4 – 6 p.m., Sunday at the funeral home. Those who wish are asked to make contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon, GA 31201.
Mr. Loyd was preceded in death by his wife, Johnnie Bell Elliott Loyd, and sisters, Julia Riner and Frances Mason. He was born in Johnson County, the son of the late Albert L. Loyd and Jessie Alma Townsend Loyd. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving during the Korean Conflict, and retired from Keebler, as a supervisor, after more than thirty-six years of service. Mr. Loyd was of the Baptist Faith and enjoyed travelling, camping, and entertaining others with his harmonica.
He is survived by his beloved family, daughters, Beverly (Wally) Glaze and Paula Reeves, both of Byron, Sharon (Jimmy) Peavey of Twiggs County and Ramona (Bert) Diaz of Houston, TX; son, Waylon (Amy) Loyd of Macon; fifteen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren; brother, Ernest Loyd of Macon; sisters, Betty Jean Lord and Susan (Harold) Turner, all of Macon; and nieces and nephews.
