A Funeral Mass for Louise will be held Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 830 Poplar St, Macon, Georgia 31201. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, North Gate Section. Father John Johnson will officiate.
Louise was born in Macon and was the daughter of the late Anastasia Rita McKenna Garvin and John Calder Garvin, Sr. and was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Cleve Peyton. She was retired as a Registered Nurse, project manager at Robins Air Force Base, and also TCS Design and Management. Louise was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kathleen and a former member of St. Joseph Catholic Church here in Macon.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Susan Brantley Helton (Billy) of Macon; son, Gary Brantley (Rhonda) of Macon; 3 stepdaughters, Linda, Pattie, and Sheila; 15 grandchildren; brother, McKenna Garvin (Sandy) of Macon; sister, Pauline O'Mahony (Tadg) of Macon.
Louise worked her way up the ladder at Robins AFB as a young single mom, starting out as a secretary. After retiring as a civil service manager in her 50s, she returned to school full time and became a registered nurse. After several years in the nursing field, she returned to her roots and became a civil service contractor. TCS hired her initially to oversee and manage a small group of employees writing technical orders. Through her organization and people skills and dedication to the Air Force mission that her group supported, that part of the business grew and flourished. She was a compassionate and efficient manager, she expected a lot but was always fair. In addition to those attributes she was always pleasant, respectful of others and fun to be around. People wanted to work hard for and with her.
As an Aunt, Louise was definitely one of the Best. Always had a smile that made you want to smile too. As the youngest of the 5 Garvin sisters, she was accustomed to “going with the flow”. She was up for any kind of adventure and was fun and easy to travel with, taking several trips with “the sistas”. Back in the day, she was the life of the party with family members recalling her singing a Rod Stewart medley of songs at Mexico Beach, a favorite family summer vacation spot.
Unfortunately, 13 years ago an infection that settled in her brain changed the course of her life. Adjusting to this slower lifestyle and now depending on others (whereas previously others depended on her) was not easy for Louise, but she handled these changes with grace. She remained the kind and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend she had always been. Louise had her faithful husband Mack by her side until his death last December. Now she has joined him.
Louise was an amazing woman who will be missed by all who loved her.
