Marcelle Dykes White

MACON – Marcelle D. White, 84, died Monday, August 1, 2011 after a brief illness. Services will be held at graveside on Thursday, August 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Riverside Cemetery, North Gate with burial beside her husband. Family friend, Judge J. Taylor Phillips will officiate.

Mrs. White was born in Laurens County on August 11, 1926 to Samuel C. and Minnie Bell Dykes. She was the fourth child in a family of eight children. Marcelle was the widow of Macon Fire Chief R. T. White and was retired from Robins Air Force Base. She was preceded in death by brothers Murriel and James Leon, sisters Grace Harris and Florence Harrington.

She is survived by her brother Samuel Curtis (Fran) Dykes and sisters Laura McClure and Lynare (Milton) Powell; also, many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She also leaves behind her beloved Maltese dog, “Bitsy.”
