Marilyn Monaghan Adams, age 86, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2021. A Celebration of her Life will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, January 3, 2022 at Snow's Memorial Chapel, Bass Road. Rev. Jon Brown will officiate. Burial will be at a later date in Hawkinsville, Georgia. The family will greet friends beginning at 10:00 AM the morning of the service. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to Wesley Glen Ministries, 4580 N. Mumford Road, Macon 31210 or Pine Pointe Hospice, 6261 Peake Road, Macon 31210.
Mrs. Adams was born in Beaumont, Texas the daughter of the late Kathleen Shawver Monaghan and Royce George Monaghan and was preceded in death by a son, Michael Monaghan Adams. She was a homemaker and a kindergarten teacher at First Presbyterian Day School for 20 years. Mrs. Adams was a graduate of Agnes Scott College with a degree in Chemistry. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church and the Woodruff Class. Mrs. Adams loved reading, gardening and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Adams is survived by her husband of 65 years, John Ross Adams, Sr. of Macon; children, John Ross Adams, Jr. (Dana) of Forsyth and Charles Shawver Adams (Lynne) of Macon; grandchildren, John Ross Adams, III, Lillian Ross Adams, Caroline Marie Adams, and William Shawver Adams; brother, Charles Allen Monaghan (Judy); 2 nieces, Susan and Kerry.
