

Mary Brown Gombkoto, 90, a resident of John Wesley Villas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, January 23, 2017. A celebration of her life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday at Avondale Baptist Church with the Rev. Foster Bell officiating. Burial will be private in Liberty United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will meet friends following the service at the church.
Mrs. Gombkoto was preceded in death by her husband of forty-two years, Stephen Gombkoto, Jr. and her parents, Ovid Ficklin and Laura Fairbanks Brown. She was a lifelong resident of Macon and a graduate of Miller High School Class of ’44. She was also a graduate of Business College and retired as warehouse distribution manager for Bibb County Board of Education. Mrs. Gombkoto was a member of Avondale Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Stephen (Nancy) Gombkoto, III of Macon; her daughter, Susan Gombkoto Hamlin of Macon; her beloved grandchildren, Stacy and Marcy Gombkoto and Joshua, Jeremy, and Ross Eaton; twelve great-grandchildren.
