

ST. SIMONS ISLAND - Mary Rosalyn Harden, 81, passed away on St. Simons Island, Georgia on Friday, December 30th.
Ms. Harden was born in Macon to Dr. Timothy Harden and Mary Elizabeth Stubbs Harden on December 1, 1930. She graduated from Miller High, in Macon, attended Queens College and graduated from the University of Georgia. She obtained a Masters in Education from Mercer University and taught at her alma mater, Miller, for 28 years.
She was a founding & long time member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, having grown up worshipping at Vineville Presbyterian Church.
Friends & family knew her as “Sister,” and she is survived by her “big” brother, Timothy (Catherine) Harden, Jr. of Athens, Ga.; her loving & devoted nieces: Sula (Wayne) Altman of Savannah, Ga., Betsy (Jim) Polhill of Louisville & SSI, Ga., Roslyn (Randy) Scott of Duluth, Ga., Laura Harden of Atlanta, Ga.; her loving & devoted nephews: Tim (Lori) Harden of St. Simons, Ga., Reid Harden of Atlanta, Ga.; grandnephews: J (Kim) Polhill of Augusta, Ga., Mike (Maureen) Altman of Scotland, UK, David (Ginny) Polhill of Dublin, Ga., Taylor Harden of Athens, Ga.; grandnieces: Beth (Adam) Young of Birmingham, Ala., Kelsey Scott of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Rachel Harden of St. Simons, Ga., Jessica Scott of Athens, Ga., and also, by her longtime faithful friend Mary Henry of Louisville, Ky. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothea (Lem) Keen, of Dublin, Ga., her nephew, Lem “Bo” Keen, Jr. of Orlando, FL, and her great-nephew, Ben Haden of Macon, GA.

A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 2, 2012 in Riverside Cemetery with Rev. Adam Young officiating. Visitation will be held 9:30 until 10:30 AM Monday at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Cherry Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ben Harden Memorial Fund, c/o First Presbyterian Day School, 5671 Calvin Drive, Macon, GA 31210.
