Mary V. Kull Sherwood

MACON – Mary Veal Kull Sherwood, 91, passed away Tuesday, January 31, 2012 at a local nursing care facility. Funeral services and a celebration of her life were held at 11 a.m., Friday at Avondale Baptist Church with burial in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Marty Watson officiated. The family suggests that those who wish may make memorial contributions to Gideons International Bibb South Camp, P. O. Box 20493, Macon 31205 or to Alzheimer’s Association, Central Georgia Chapter, 886 Mulberry Street, Macon 31201 or to Avondale Baptist Church, 6970 Cochran Field Road, Macon 31216.

Mrs. Sherwood, daughter of the late Joe Brown Gordon Veal and Ola M. Mills Veal, was born in Tennille. She was preceded in death by her first husband, James “J.W.” Wayne Kull with whom she owned and operated Kull’s Carwash in Warner Robins. Mrs. Sherwood was a member and past president of the Pink Ladies Auxiliary at the Medical Center of Central Georgia. She was a member of Avondale Baptist Church and was very active in the life of her church serving as bereavement chairman for a number of years and in the visitation ministry to shut-ins and leading many people to a saving knowledge of Jesus. Mrs. Sherwood was an intercessory prayer warrior who was called upon by many people in need of prayer and by many families whose loved ones were near death.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she will be missed by those she loved most…her family…her husband, Albert Sherwood of Macon; her children, Linda and Jim Fountain of Jesup, Janet and Doyle Stewart of Augusta and Jennifer and Tim Braswell of Opelika, AL; her sisters, Dorothy Abernathy of Austell, Doris Knox of Augusta and Ola Mask of Vidalia; her grandchildren, Kristan (Phil) Aaron, Bart Stewart, Kent (Missi) Fountain, Merrigail Owen and Kent Braswell; six great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.
